BRODY DOESN’T EVEN GET THE CHANCE TO EXPLAIN TO RACHEL BECAUSE HER EX-BOYFRIEND COMES BACK FROM LIMA,OHIO FOR NO REASON JUST TO BEAT UP THIS GUY HE FEELS IS ‘VICTIMIZING’ HIS ‘FUTURE WIFE’ BECAUSE THIS MATTERS MORE THAN HER FEELINGS

HIS FEELINGS ARE MORE VALID BECAUSE FINN IS THE ULTIMATE MALE PROTANGINIST THAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO IDENTIFY WITH BUT HE IS JUST SEXISM WRAPPED UP IN ‘NICE BOY’ APPEAL

AND THIS SCENE IS NOT OKAY BECAUSE IT ROBS RACHEL OF HER AUTONOMY TO MAKE DECISIONS AND MAKES FINN INTO HER SAVIOR AND HE MAKES PROBLEMATIC COMMENTS LIKE THIS AND GLEE IS GOING TO LET HIM GET AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE HE’S DAMAGED AND THEY ARE SOULMATES OR SOME STUPID SHIT LIKE THAT BUT REALLY THEY CONSISTENTLY UNDERWRITE THEIR FEMALE CHARACTERS AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I’MS O ANGRY I JUST AM.

Like I already knew I wouldn’t get tons of Rachel POV or agency out of this storyline. It is a Glee storyline, after all. But this wasn’t just really weird and out-of-nowhere, but genuinely upsetting and creepy. It isn’t just love triangle bullshit, but Rachel’s friend calling in her ex-boyfriend who she’d broken up with partially because she felt he was making her decisions for her, and having him tell her current boyfriend to take a hike because…. he still thinks he can make her decisions for her. Also really gross and unnecessary violence that would only be acceptable if it was in self-defense or in Rachel’s defense (as in, Rachel actually being in danger because of Brody at that moment). 

In this moment they were both over-masculinized pigs and Rachel Berry can do so much better than either of you.

What happened to her agency in this storyline? Bringing Finn into this, especially when he’s been doing so much better this season, was stupid. It wasn’t romantic and him saying what he said in that last gif just made it all worse to me.

She agreed over a year ago to marry and then you dumped her. She is seeing someone else, open relationship or not, and she is not your property and doesn’t need you to run off to NYC to defend her honor.

This is directed for at the writers, but still. Seriously. 

And another thing, the problem with Brody’s storyline isn’t that he’s a prostitute, it’s the fact that he’s hiding it and lying to Rachel about it.

Get your shit together Glee, jfc. This entire scene was so disappointing and disgusting for so many reasons.
